Joseph Ziomek (Past Speaker)

Joe Ziomek is a principal in Mercer Career’s Los Angeles office. He joined the firm in July 2010 after receiving his MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School, where he focused on strategy and human resources.

In his time at Mercer, Joe has worked on a wide range of engagements in sales compensation, broad-based and executive rewards, talent management, human capital strategy, and communication. His work has spanned multiple industries, including retail, technology and internet, nonprofit, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and biotechnology, financial services, insurance, entertainment, retail, hospitality, and real estate. Recent engagements include:

• Sales compensation benchmarking and incentive plan redesign for a recently IPO’d medical device manufacturer.

• Full salesforce compensation redesign and implementation for a pharmaceutical beauty product company based in Southern California.

• Sales compensation plan audit for an internet company operating in “Silicon Beach.”

• Sales strategy, salesforce compensation program assessment, program redesign, and implementation for a SAAS-based technology company in Orange County (partnership with our sister company, Oliver Wyman).

• Career framework and role definition project for Fortune 500 pharma company operating in Southern California.

• Sales compensation plan review and plan redesign principles for a Colorado-based, vertically integrated manufacturer and seller of large machinery.

Joe has completed two rotations in Mercer’s Canada market: a three-month stint in Toronto in 2013, followed by two months in Calgary in 2014. Joe also oversees campus recruiting for Mercer Career North America and for Mercer Career’s Western Region.

Prior to business school, Joe worked in fine dining restaurants for five years, including as a sommelier at the world-renowned Alinea Restaurant in Chicago, along with two years as General Manager/Wine Director of Quince Restaurant in Evanston.

Joe earned his BA in Psychology and French from Northwestern University in 2002 and an MBA from UCLA-Anderson in 2010.
